Our day will start with a panoramic tour of the famous London landmarks. We’ll see Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Picadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Hamley’s Toy Shop, Harrods, London Aquarium, London Eye, London Dungeon and much more. We will see the changing of the guard in front of Buckingham Palace and I’ll make sure that you are positioned to get the best possible photographs of the soldiers in their red tunics and bearskins.
Then a drive along the River Thames for a private tour inside the Tower of London - beheaded Queens, imprisoned princes, famous prisoners - history would be thick here even without the Crown Jewels and the Beefeaters. We'll see instruments of torture including a replica rack - they are always looking for volunteers!
I will show you the fun aspects of museums such as 'Ginger' a 5,000-year-old mummified body at the British Museum. Why did the ancient Egyptians mummify their cats, dogs, crocodiles and birds, even eels? How could people tell the time before clocks and watches were invented? We'll look at the oldest writing in the world, and see the Lewis Chess set which inspired the chess pieces in Harry Potter. We’ll see the Rosetta Stone, Egyptian mummies, the Elgin Marbles and one of the wonders of the ancient world plus much more.
We could call in at Hyde Park and feed the ducks; I’ll have plenty of bread for them!
The Serpentine Lido with its rowing boats and pedallos are great for both adults and children. Should you want to go horseback riding, there are five miles of bridleways in London's Hyde Park beside the Serpentine Lake, in the most beautiful setting for horseback riding in a Capital City anywhere in the world.
The Natural History Museum is just a short drive from the park. Dinosaurs are a star attraction, but there's much more in this huge museum, which is housed in a splendid piece of 19-th century architecture. For children the sight of giant real dinosaur skeletons is like a shot of adrenaline.
Harry Potter London film locations: include King’s Cross Station (have a photograph taken standing beneath the mystical Platform 9 ¾ sign, but please don’t try and run through the wall unless you are a witch or a wizard!); Diagon Alley (watch out for Hagrid); the Leaky Cauldron and the street featuring the Knight Bus scenes.
Suitable for adults and Children from 8 years +.
